In
the Gita, God says - "Sarva dharmaan parityajya maamekum sharanam vraj.
Aham tvaa sarva paapebhyo mokshashishyaami maa suchaha." (Gita 18:66).
"Surrendering all duties to Me, seek refuge in Me alone. I shall liberate
you from all sins, grieve not." (Gita 18:66).
In
Gita, God declares the discipline of devotion (Bhakti Yoga) as the best
spiritual discipline. It is complete surrender (sharanagati) to Him. Lord's
teachings begin with Arjuna surrendering to God and the teachings end with God
asking Arjuna to simply leave all and take complete refuge in Him alone, and
not to worry about anything.
In
the Gita, God spoke about secret (guhya), more secret (guhyatara), the most
secret (guhyatama) and finally in Gita 18:64, He revealed the supreme or most
profound, the ultimate secret (sarva guhyatama). The supreme secret that God
revealed is "Seek refuge in Me alone." Earlier Arjuna was unable to
reach a decision on whether to fight in the war or not. Arjuna said to Lord
Krishna, "My understanding is confused as to my duty. So I plead to you to
guide me." Lord Krishna says to Arjuna, that you should not fall pray to
this dilemma. If you are confused in taking the right decision, simply leave
all and take refuge in Me alone. I will liberate you from all sins, you need not
worry.
One
must therefore renounce all other forms of dependencies. One must not depend on
anyone. Give up dependency and reliance on all else. Simply surrender
exclusively and entirely to God. Accept Him as both means (saadhan) and the end
(saadhya). This exclusive refuge in God is the most confidential and ultimate
secret shared by Lord Krishna in the Gita.
